ALMA is the largest observatory in the world. And also the highest. ALMA has 66 telescopes. Each telescope is a radio antenna, like those you sometimes see on the side of houses, but most of ALMA’s antennas are 12-metres across. Together, they study the birth of galaxies, stars and planets.
